Uplands School, Scalby
Friedensthal opened as an adult guest house in 1904. It was rented from J.W. Rowntree of Low Hall until it closed in 1920. In 1953 it became Uplands School for private pupils. The school closed in 1965 and was eventually demolished to make way for the residential development of Wordsworth Close.
