Under reorganisation proposed in 1952, the Shirebrook Selective Central Schools were phased out over three years. In 1955 the buildings were used to allow Shirebrook Girls' Grammar School to be expanded into a mixed grammar school. The school became Shirebrook School, Common Lane, Shirebrook. [1] Shirebrook School became an Academy on 1 September 2010. The Academy relocated into a new building nearby on Common Lane in April 2013
