Stirling at the original York Railway Museum
Being one of the first early steam locos I came across I have always been drawn to Stirling. I even had an Airfix kit of it! (Sadly have it no more.) I was surprised to come across the loco again at the Clapham Transport Museum in the late 1970's and even more surprised to see it negotiating Gants Hill Roundabout several years later (probably in 1980 and on the back of a low loader in case you're wondering if it was emulating the Titfield Thunderbolt!) I'm even more surprised to see it still functions as it was put back in steam several times during the 1980's. The loco now normally resides back in York at the NRM.
