73096 - A British Railways Standard Class 5MT
Locomotive 73096 was built at the Derby Works in November 1955 and ran on the London Midland and Western Regions of British Railways before being withdrawn from service in November 1967 and sent to Barry Scrapyard. It was rescued in July 1985 and returned to service in October 1993. The boiler required a major overhaul and a new tender was built based on the chassis from a Jubilee class tender. Presently 73096 is not in service as its 10 year boiler certificate has expired.
